About Mia
Mia founded Whisper To The Pearl with a simple idea: real pearl jewelry should be wearable. Not heirloom-only, not luxury-concierge — the kind of pieces that go with denim and a t-shirt as easily as they go with a dress.
She writes the Pearl Stories blog, hand-picks every pearl in the catalog, and replies personally to most customer emails. The shop is run solo from the US; the catalog is small and curated rather than wide and trend-chasing.
What Mia writes about
- Buying pearl jewelry — how to recognize real freshwater pearls, what luster grades mean, what to look for at different price points.
- Wearing pearls in modern life — styling pearls with everyday outfits, layering, mixing metals, and the rules worth ignoring.
- Caring for pearls — cleaning, storage, and avoiding the small mistakes that dull pearls over time.
- Pearl culture and meaning — history, symbolism, and why pearls keep coming back into fashion.
Editorial perspective
Mia's writing voice is plain English, opinionated, and tasteful. She avoids luxury-brochure language ("timeless elegance", "exquisite", "captivating") and overstated claims. If a piece is good, she says so plainly. If she's not sure, she says that too.
For sources, she favors primary references on pearl quality and grading (GIA, CIBJO) and her own catalog experience. Posts are updated when new information becomes available; the date at the top of each post reflects the most recent revision.
